What is Premium SMS?
Premium SMS is used as a billing mechanism for the purchase of mobile content and for other goods and services (usually mobile-related). The content/service is provided by a third party content provider (ie. not by Savvytel). Premium Services can include competitions, promotions, TV voting, SMS chat or mobile content purchases such as ringtones, games and screensavers. Most Premium SMS services are one-off services (not subscriptions).

How to Subscribe to Premium SMS Service?

Premium SMS numbers or ‘shortcodes’ always start with ‘19’ and are either 6 or 8 digits long.

Sending an SMS from your mobile phone, then positively responding to a return SMS (which contains service cost/frequency information) via SMS.
Visiting a website, then positively responding to a return SMS (which contains service cost/frequency information) via SMS.
Receiving a call from an IVR [interactive voice response], pressing a number on the keypad, then positively responding to a return SMS (which contains service cost/frequency information) via SMS.
How to check your premium SMS usage?
To see if you are using a premium SMS service:
  1. Log into My Account
  2. Go to call usage
  3. All premium SMS transactions will show a 19 prefix
How to unsubscribe from an individual Premium SMS service?
  1. To unsubscribe from an individual Premium SMS service you must in the first instance follow the introductions from that third party provider. Generally you are required to send “STOP” via SMS to that provider.
  2. Alternatively, dial 1203 from your Savvytel SIM and customer care can assist you with the request.
How to bar Premium SMS / How to Set a Premium SMS limit?
To cancel a Premium SMS subscription, use one of the following options:
  1. Log into My Account
  2. Go to the Premium SMS link
  3. Complete the on line form for either a total bar or to set a limit
  4. Submit the form and the request will be updated within 24 hours.
